Security has been tightened in the capital Delhi after the incident in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh. In view of the anger of the farmers, heavy police force is deployed at Singhu border, Ghazipur and Tikri border. Traffic going from Delhi to Ghazipur border has been closed.
Delhi Traffic Police has advised that drivers traveling from Delhi to NH-24 should exit from DND and Anand Vihar side. Due to this, there is a traffic jam there too. Barricading is being done at the entry point from Noida to Delhi. With Monday being the first working day of the week, the traffic on the roads is heavy and drivers are stuck here for thirty minutes.
Traffic has also been stopped from Noida towards DND. Due to the entire traffic of Noida being diverted towards Noida Link Road, there has been a huge jam on the Noida Link Road. The drivers are stuck in the jam for about 40 minutes.
Eight people, including four farmers, were killed in a violent clash in Lakhimpur Kheri district on Sunday. An FIR has been registered against Ashish, son of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni in this case. So far no arrests have been made from either side in the incident. However, in view of the possibility of worsening of the situation, prohibitory orders have been imposed in the district. Internet services have been disrupted in the district. Holiday has been declared in schools today, district borders have been sealed.
